Good Food. Good Stocks. Good Times!

Hello, hungry investors! Brandi Bunny here, hopping into the Alluring Analysts lineup with my very first stock market adventure!

Grab your favorite snack, pour yourself something refreshing, and buckle up. We’re taking the Bunny-Mobile on a delicious journey through the food, beverage, and restaurant industries!

Everybody has to eat, and millions of people spend money every day on coffee, burgers, burritos, soft drinks, and snacks. But just because a company makes something delicious doesn’t mean its stock is automatically a tasty investment.

That’s where I come in!

Today, I’m investigating five publicly traded companies with recognizable brands, interesting business strategies, and investment opportunities worth researching.

Let’s hop to it!

1. McDonald’s (NYSE: MCD) — The Golden Arches of Global Franchising

Few restaurant companies have the worldwide recognition of McDonald’s.

From hamburgers and breakfast sandwiches to coffee and value meals, McDonald’s has built an enormous business around convenience, affordability, consistency, and brand recognition.

But the company’s real financial strength goes beyond selling burgers.

Why Brandi Is Watching

McDonald’s operates through a heavily franchised business model, allowing the company to generate substantial revenue from franchise royalties, rents, and other arrangements.

In the second quarter of 2026, McDonald’s reported:

  • Global comparable sales growth of 1.3%.
  • U.S. comparable sales growth of 0.8%.
  • Consolidated revenue growth of 4%.
  • Diluted earnings per share of $3.32, up 6% year over year.

The company’s global systemwide sales reached approximately $37 billion for the quarter.

McDonald’s also continues investing in digital ordering, loyalty programs, and restaurant operations.

What Could Go Wrong?

Even a global restaurant giant faces challenges.

Consumers watching their budgets may reduce restaurant visits, while labor costs, food inflation, competition, and franchisee profitability can pressure results.

McDonald’s modest U.S. comparable sales growth also suggests investors should monitor customer traffic carefully.

Brandi’s Bunny Bite

McDonald’s offers exposure to a globally recognized restaurant franchise system, but traffic growth and valuation matter.

A familiar brand is a good starting point for research—not a reason to buy at any price.

2. Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO) — A Refreshing Global Beverage Business

When it comes to recognizable consumer brands, Coca-Cola is difficult to beat.

The company reaches consumers through an extensive portfolio of beverages, including sparkling drinks, water, sports drinks, and other nonalcoholic products.

Its worldwide distribution system and marketing capabilities help make Coca-Cola one of the most established businesses in the beverage industry.

Why Brandi Is Watching

Coca-Cola’s second-quarter 2026 results demonstrated the resilience of its global business:

  • Net revenues increased 7% to $13.4 billion.
  • Organic revenues grew 6%.
  • Global unit case volume increased 5%.
  • Operating income increased 9%.
  • Comparable earnings per share increased 11%.

Coca-Cola also raised its full-year guidance.

Those results suggest the company has been able to combine volume growth, pricing, and operational efficiency.

What Could Go Wrong?

Consumers increasingly have choices beyond traditional carbonated soft drinks.

Health-conscious purchasing trends, changing beverage preferences, currency movements, packaging expenses, and commodity costs can all influence performance.

Investors should also consider whether Coca-Cola’s valuation adequately reflects its growth prospects.

Brandi’s Bunny Bite

Coca-Cola represents an established global beverage business with recognizable brands and significant distribution advantages.

For investors researching mature consumer companies, it deserves a place on the watchlist.

3. Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE: CMG) — Fresh Ingredients and Restaurant Expansion

Chipotle has become one of the most recognizable names in fast-casual dining.

Its customizable burritos, bowls, tacos, and salads appeal to consumers looking for convenient meals with a different experience from traditional fast food.

Chipotle also continues developing digital ordering and drive-through pickup capabilities.

Why Brandi Is Watching

In the second quarter of 2026, Chipotle reported:

  • Revenue growth of 9.3% to $3.3 billion.
  • Comparable restaurant sales growth of 2.2%.
  • The opening of 100 company-owned restaurants.
  • Digital sales representing 38.3% of total food and beverage revenue.

Of the 100 new company-owned restaurants, 80 included a Chipotlane, the company’s drive-through digital-order pickup format.

New restaurant openings provide a potential avenue for continued revenue growth.

What Could Go Wrong?

Restaurant expansion requires capital, disciplined execution, and consistent customer demand.

Chipotle’s second-quarter restaurant-level operating margin declined to 25.2% from 27.4% a year earlier.

Food costs, wage pressures, competition, and customer sensitivity to menu prices remain important considerations.

Brandi’s Bunny Bite

Chipotle offers an interesting combination of restaurant expansion, digital sales, and brand recognition.

But investors should watch whether new locations translate into sustained earnings growth and healthy margins.

4. PepsiCo (NASDAQ: PEP) — Snacks, Beverages, and Global Consumer Demand

Now we’re talking about one of my favorite combinations: something crunchy and something refreshing!

PepsiCo operates across beverages and convenient foods, giving investors exposure to multiple categories of everyday consumer spending.

Its portfolio includes Pepsi, Gatorade, Lay’s, Doritos, Quaker, and numerous other brands.

Why Brandi Is Watching

PepsiCo’s third-quarter 2026 results, announced October 8, showed:

  • Net revenue growth of 5.6%.
  • Organic revenue growth of 3.1%.
  • Reported earnings per share growth of 17%.
  • Core earnings per share growth of 2%.

Management highlighted organic volume growth across its global beverage and convenient-food businesses, alongside efforts to improve performance in North America.

The company’s combination of snacks and beverages creates opportunities for distribution efficiency, product innovation, and broad consumer reach.

What Could Go Wrong?

PepsiCo faces competition across both of its major product categories.

Consumers may switch to private-label products, purchase fewer snacks, or respond to changing dietary preferences.

Ingredient costs, promotional spending, and the challenge of restoring stronger growth in North America also deserve attention.

Brandi’s Bunny Bite

PepsiCo gives investors a way to research two major consumer categories through one company.

Its international operations and established brands are attractive characteristics, but stronger volume and profitability trends will be important to monitor.

5. Dutch Bros (NYSE: BROS) — A Growing Coffee and Beverage Challenger

Let’s finish our adventure with a company bringing energy and personality to the beverage business!

Dutch Bros has developed a following around drive-through coffee, specialty beverages, and customer service.

Unlike some established consumer companies on this list, Dutch Bros remains focused on expanding its store footprint.

Why Brandi Is Watching

Dutch Bros reported particularly strong second-quarter 2026 growth:

  • Total revenue increased 32.5% to $550.9 million.
  • Company-operated same-shop sales grew 8.3%.
  • Systemwide same-shop sales increased 5.8%.
  • The company opened 48 new shops during the quarter.

Following those results, Dutch Bros raised its 2026 revenue guidance to approximately $2.1 billion–$2.13 billion.

The company also projected at least 185 total system shop openings for the year.

What Could Go Wrong?

Rapid expansion brings significant financial and operational risks.

New shops require investment, staffing, suitable locations, and enough customer demand to justify their costs.

Dutch Bros also competes with established coffee chains, independent shops, and convenience-store beverage offerings.

A growth-oriented stock can experience substantial volatility if expansion or earnings fall short of investor expectations.

Brandi’s Bunny Bite

Dutch Bros is one of the more interesting growth stories on this list, but its expansion plans and valuation require careful examination.

Fast-growing revenue is exciting. Sustainable profits and cash flow are what investors ultimately need to evaluate.

What’s Cooking in the Food and Beverage Industry?

These five companies represent different ways investors can participate in consumer spending.

McDonald’s and Chipotle compete for restaurant customers, but their operating models are substantially different.

Coca-Cola and PepsiCo depend on established beverage brands, while PepsiCo also has a major snack business.

Dutch Bros represents a faster-growing beverage chain with a substantial expansion opportunity.

When researching food and beverage stocks, I pay particular attention to five questions:

1. Are customers buying more?

Revenue growth driven by additional transactions and product volume can be more sustainable than growth relying entirely on higher prices.

2. Are profit margins improving?

Food ingredients, labor, packaging, transportation, and promotional spending can all influence profitability.

3. Does the company have a competitive advantage?

Strong brands, convenient locations, distribution networks, customer loyalty, and operational efficiency can help companies defend their businesses.

4. Can the company continue growing?

New restaurant openings, product innovation, international expansion, and digital ordering may create opportunities, but each requires investment and successful execution.

5. Is the stock reasonably valued?

A wonderful business can still be a disappointing investment if its stock price already assumes extraordinary future growth.

Investors should compare valuation multiples, earnings expectations, free cash flow, debt, and competitive conditions before making decisions.

Brandi’s Final Bunny Bite: Don’t Confuse a Delicious Product With a Delicious Investment!

The food and beverage industry is filled with familiar products, beloved brands, and businesses that influence our daily lives.

But investing requires more than recognizing a logo or enjoying a favorite meal.

McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Chipotle, PepsiCo, and Dutch Bros each offer different combinations of brand strength, growth potential, profitability, and risk.

My first five-stock watchlist is designed to give investors a starting point for deeper research—not five automatic buy recommendations.

As for me, I’ve got more restaurants to investigate, beverages to sample, and financial reports to study.

The Bunny-Mobile is fueled up, my watchlist is ready, and this bunny has plenty more hopping to do!

Until next time, remember:
